So recently I've been testing out our Windows 10 image on a Surface Pro 4 and when I went to do updates, I decided it was as good as a time to try out the anniversary 1607 version. However, before it could upgrade it told me that I needed to uninstall my McAfee VirusScan. I didn't think much of it at the time figuring it was one of those 'your antivirus might try and block so please temporarily disable' sort of deals and I'd just reinstall it after the upgrade.
However, when I tried reinstalling after upgrading to 1607 I got a notification that told me this software doesn't work on this version of Windows and directed me to the useless link below.Does anyone know what could have possibly changed after the upgrade preventing software that worked prior? I'm asking as I will either now need to talk to my boss about upgrading to a supported version or blocking 1607 all together. It just seems weird that it would work on Windows 10, just not the latest version. Seems odd for something to change that much and cut support between revisions like this. Like I've never seen something say 'Works with Windows 10 (just not 1607 or newer)'.It is version 8.8.07000 and I think it is Enterprise managed but can't say for certain as this is my first interaction with it.
Here is some information on Hawaiian Telcom's McAfee Internet Security service. McAfee Support FAQ. Microsoft Windows 10, 8.1, 8 and 7 (32- and 64-bit). Can't install Mcafee on Window 10 06:23 AM. If the Windows 10 operating system operates as expected and you are able to install other software without issue, that makes it a McAfee software problem. There is an underlying logic behind successful methods of troubleshooting issues.
When installing, I have to install the VirusScan and then run another installer for an agent. What's odd as well is the upgrade didn't require me to uninstall the McAfee agent (ver.
Again this is not familiar territory for me but I'm hoping the upgrade to a supported version isn't an additional cost and just a matter of downloading newer installer. Rico27 wrote:It just seems weird that it would work on Windows 10, just not the latest version.
Mcafee Support Windows 1803

Seems odd for something to change that much and cut support between revisions like this. Like I've never seen something say 'Works with Windows 10 (just not 1607 or newer)'.You are taking these revisions as minor updates, they are not, they are effectively full upgrades, enhanced SPs if you like.from 10 to build 1511 was a huge jump, from 1511 to 1607 was a huge jump and next the creators edition will also need to be approved by McAfee before it is supported, I can guarantee you it will not support MA4.8 or your current 8.8 build. I mean I understand that its no minor update but was just surprised as the average person won't know about these versions where as like with Windows 7, they could at least say not supported with Win 7 SP1 but I get it. I will have to have a talk with my boss as I've never been involved with McAfee prior to today and let them know.
Mcafee Endpoint Security Blocking Windows 10 Updates
I'm still curious on what exactly changed from 1511 to 1607 for this not to work anymore but this at least give me a direction on what to do next.I appreciate everyone's input on this as it definitely cleared this up for me.
