I'm running a backup program that runs from the start menu, but it has to be run as administrator. I do it manually right now, but thats a pain in the ass. Is there a way to tell it to save the administrators password, and always run it as such? Any other workaround? Basically its a simple backup program that goes into other computers.but must do so as administrator otherwise the backup proggy chokes on authentication.

This is the method I employed because previously i used a 2k box that was always logged in as administrator. This wouldn't be a problem but you can't actually log on locally as administrator anymore.or can I?
I'm kind of new to messing around with services and such, but I.believe. you can set up the backup to run as a service with admin privelidges. You might want to check out some of the Microsoft Knowledge bases and look for info on setting up programs to launch as services instead of just a standard program. I know that we have a program running on our NT4 server here at work that launches as a service instead of a standard program.
That way it always runs at boot-up of the machine and keeps running until you shut it down (which isn't often since it's a widely used file server). I don't see why you couldn't do the same with a backup program.
