May 27, 2016 - Fallout 4: Search the crime scene for clues - Brain Dead. For clues is a quest objective in the mission Brain Dead in Fallout 4: Far Harbor. In this two hour long gameplay session we take you on a journey through some of the side content in Fallout 4 expansion Far Harbor. First up is a murder mystery quest called 'Brain Dead', and we also play through a couple of missions that make up the 'Acadian Ideals' quest. Loot him for 500 more Pre-War Money, then report back to Maxwell. The reward from Maxwell is the same either way, and note that you get a double XP reward for completing 'Brain Dead' and 'Brain Dead, Part 2', but the 500 extra Pre-War Money you get from killing the murderer makes for a nice bonus.
Trying for even more money won’t get immediate results, but she’ll promise to put in a good word.Follow Pearl through the Cliff’s Edge Hotel Pearl will you to the Cliff’s Edge Hotel. Whether or not you actually encountered Pearl, the elevator down to the Vault won’t be working, forcing you to take the long way to the basement by going up the south stairs, onto the balcony and rooftops around to the northern side of the hotel before descending back down.This will you into the bowels of the Cliff’s Edge Hotel, which holds beneath it, a vault turned hotel that it now apparently part of a deadly murder mystery. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by a named Maxwell, who will direct you to the scene of the crime. Before moving on you can ask about your payment to get 20 Pre-war dollars.Follow Maxwell to the Scene of the Murder and Search for Clues When you arrive at the scene of the crime in a grand ballroom, it will become readily apparent just who the inhabitants of this vault really are. Get a look at the guests before Maxwell shoos them off and lets you have reign over the place. Your colorful cast of - and suspects - are as follows:.
Santiago Avida, an eccentric artist who can often be found roaming around a large generator turned art studio in the southern wing. Keith McKinney, a pompous actor of a forgotten age who can be found in the Northern suites, number 2. Gilda Broscoe, a femme fatale starlet and Keith's lover who will first be found with Keith, then move to the “beach” past the shower room at the end of the southern wing. Bert Riggs, a genius scientist from General Atomics who first came up with the plan to outlast the war down in. He lives with his wife Julianna, but will eventually move into the class room in the North hall. Julianna Riggs, heir to the Riggs fortune and financier for part of the Vault 118 project who can both be found in their suite opposite Santiago’s art studio.First thing’s first: check the crime scene for clues. Note the head wound, and what looks to be blood.
Follow the trail to what appears to be the murder - a unique baseball bat called Fencebuster. Just to the left of the baseball bat - is that a can of red paint? The plot thickens.Discuss your findings with Maxwell to learn the baseball bat belongs to Keith. This seems to be the best place to start, but don’t get carried away and accuse people right out of the - a good detective always pursues every lead first.Investigate Keith McKinney Head to the northern suites, and find suite number 2 to hear Keith and Gilda discussing the murder! Wait, no, they are just doing lines from a movie.
After a brief spat, Gilda will leave, letting you talk with Keith. You can ask on his thoughts, and have him explain the bat, and he will in turn pin the murder on Santiago, your next suspect.Investigate Santiago Avida Travel to the southern hall to find Santiago in his art studio and talk with him. You can either be direct, or talk about art - Santiago will insist on art either way. He’ll lead you to three different paintings and ask for your opinion, and it’s up to you to try and play the art critic, or get impatient. After the tour, talk to him again to get some actual work done: asking about the case will have him pin it on Julianna Riggs, who was heard arguing with Ezra before his death.
He’ll also add that Gilda may know more. But if you ask about the paint he’ll claim that it was Ezra himself who took his last can. If you got him to divulge that he’s painted a lot of Gilda, you can ask him about that too - and even get him to admit he’s in love.
Interesting.Investigate The Riggs Going across from Santiago’s studio, you’ll find Julianna and Bert arguing before he leaves to the classroom in the hall. Speak with Julianna to ask about her thoughts - she believes one of the actors was behind it. If you ask about the argument with Ezra, she’ll claim he was asking for more money to repair the hotel.Head over to the classroom to grill Bert Riggs. You can ask about the argument between his wife and Ezra, and he’ll mention she may have been up to the Overseer’s office. Ask about his research to learn he was behind the creation of the robobrain he currently inhabits.
He’ll also drone on about voice modulation, and how that works, which you should pay attention to. Finally, if you ask about Julianna and pass a speech check, he’ll let on that his wife has been acting.different. Pass an even harder speech check, and he’ll reveal something even more:Show SpoilersMore on that later - we’ve got more suspects to grill.Investigate Gilda Broscoe Head down the hall past the showers to the “beach” to find Gilda.
You can ask her on her thoughts of the murder. She won’t be much for talking unless you either let her gossip - or lay the charm on thick.
After the gossip, you can ask about the argument between Ezra and Julianna. Apparently there’s more to the story than Julianna let on - she went to the Overseer’s office and found something interesting. She’ll also accuse Santiago of the murder, and doesn’t think Keith could have killed Ezra.If you. Lay on the flirtation long enough, you can eventually get bold enough to ask Gilda out on a date that ends. Well, it’s complicated. Buttering her up will let you ask questions more directly, like getting her to admit to an affair with Santiago. Poor Keith.Search the Overseer’s Office Head to the Overseer’s office from the stairs between the classroom and ballroom.
However, the door is master locked, so talk to Maxwell instead. You’ll learn that Ezra locked the place up after catching Julianna in it, and the key may be back in his quarters, at the end of the north hall.Note that Ezra’s displays are all up for grabs seeing as he’s dead - and you can pick the lock on many of the cases to get some free loot. Also note that the display case filled with supposed pygmy skulls presented to him are all.Check Ezra’s room for the key, then return to the Overseer’s office. You’ll find the Overseer dead - probably long ago, in front of his.
Give the a look to find out the true nature of the vault, and how things went wrong (as they always seem to do). Listen to the tape to find that Ezra may have been embezzling funds from his investors - a fact that Julianna Riggs must have found to start that argument the others heard about.Investigate Julianna Riggs When you return to talk to Julianna about the embezzling, she’ll deny any such thing happened which doesn’t make sense considering the argument that stemmed from the Overseer’s office.
Time to make the accusation. Of course, you won’t have the full motive unless you managed to fit the last piece of the puzzle from Bert about his fears. Whether you accuse about the embezzling or about the true, the jig will be up:Julianna is not the killer - Ezra is. He killed Julianna when she found out about the embezzling of her money, and then he used the robobrain’s voice modulation to change places.

He also borrowed red paint from Santiago, and used it with Keith’s bat to pin it on the actor, while he continued his plot to flee with the money he had stolen.What happens next is up to you. You can either apprehend him with good old fashioned justice, or let him go. If you want in on the scheme, you can blackmail him for 200 pre war dollars before you decide to let him go or fight.If you let him walk, he’ll make a break for the exit while you either lie about what happened when talking with Maxwell - or you can turn the tables by outing him before he can escape to sic security on him. However it goes down, you’ll start, which is pretty much an extension of your current quest that tasks you to finish the investigation or defeat Ezra Parker. Once the killer is finished or the lies are told, return to maxwell to collect your reward of 400 pre war dollars, plus a bonus of 100 for uncovering the plot.
